Hello readers! Most of us get in the slumps now and then, they can last from a few days to a month. Any more than that can get a little unhealthy and must seek treatment immediately. Here we will be discussing cures and what to avoid to maintain a healthy reading life so let’s get started.

Cures: The most common way to get rid of a slump is to read certain books. Some special ones can get you out and there are a few other methods too.

Book: #1 Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

Throne of Glass is probably one of the best cures there are, even if you’ve already read it, a re-read still does the trick. Throne of Glass is about Celaena Sardothien who has spent her life as a trained assassin but was captured and taken to the Salt Mines of Endovier to work as a slave. But after a year, she is taken out to compete for the job of the King’s Champion against 24 competitors. Winning this returns her freedom. But there is something dark lurking within the castle and only Celaena can fix it.

Book: #2 White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Hehe so I have to admit that I haven’t read The Dark Elements series yet and it’s still sitting on my shelf. But I have heard many great things about it and comments on its ability to scare away the slumps. So it is about Layla, who must choose between Roth or Zayne, two men who she never thought she could be with. But then something new occurs, a deadly demon called a Lilin begins harming those around her, and most importantly her best friend, Sam. Old secrets come back to life and everything in Layla’s life is a jumble, she can only rely on her instincts.

Book: #3 The Young Elites by Marie Lu

The Young Elites is an easy read and flies through pretty fast. The beginning immediately hooks you so you don’t have to worry about informative starters. It begins with the blood fever, how it spread and killed. But some survived and were left with markings, those people were labeled malfettos. They were treated cruelly and were innocently executed. Rumors spread that some posses inhuman powers and a group of them plot against the kingdom. On the day of Adelina’s execution, the Daggers rescue and recruit her. But then they discover her powers and the darkness that run in them. Her power is something uncontrollable and dangerous.

Book: #4 The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

The Wrath and the Dawn is written in a way I have never seen. It is so smooth, hot, and peaceful all at once… I can’t even explain it. The story begins with Khalid, a murderous boy-king that marries a woman every night and strangles them when dawn arrives. After Shahrzad’s best friend is murdered under his authority, she volunteers to be his next wife. But, Shazi keeps a clever plan to stay alive and take revenge the Caliph, until she begins falling in love with him.

Watching Booktube is always a good helper for breaking the slumps. By watching a video or two, you should be getting into a reading mood just long enough to get the urge to read.
